Spring ORC Week 5

I can’t believe we are headed toward the finish line of the Spring ORC! This week doesn’t seem like much progress, but we made the hurdle of moving electrical and getting the closet enclosed. As I mentioned before, this space used to be a guest bedroom, so all the original outlets were placed low in the room. Since we will be wrapping the room in cabinetry, the outlets had to be moved up above countertop level! This meant tearing up a LOT of drywall :( and now we are going to have to patch and paint all the seams. Luckily the Mr. is a man of many talents, and he should have the space looking ship shape in no time…I am basically there to offer support and hand tools! Here’s some of the progress…

Here’s a list of things that still need done:

  • patch/paint drywall

  • cabinetry installation

  • marble counter/backsplash templating and installation

  • butcher block templating and installation

  • hardware installation

  • hanging rod installation

  • plumbing installation

  • tongue and groove ceiling installation

  • light fixture installation

  • cafe curtain sewing and installation

  • styling/photography

Basically, a lot still has to happen and I’ll admit I’m beginning to have my doubts. As many of you know, the building industry is being hit hard with backorders/delays, and I am nervous there will not be enough time to get the marble fabricated. The cabinet delivery is behind and still not scheduled, which will definitely hold that up even more. The bright side right now is that most of the to do list is the “pretty” things that make you excited as you watch the space come to life!

Cross your fingers we can cross the finish line with a finished room! As always, make sure to check here to see how all the participants are progressing!!! And check back next week for more updates.
